Associate Justice Kelly O'Neill Levy

Justice O'Neill Levy

Hon. Kelly O’Neill Levy was appointed to the Appellate Division, First Department by Governor Kathy Hochul in 2023.

Justice O’Neill Levy began her judicial career in 2011 following her election to New York City Civil Court. She served as a child protective judge in Bronx Family Court from January 2011 until February 2013. From February 2013 to February 2015, she served as an Acting Justice of New York Supreme Court and Administrative Judge of the Harlem Community Justice Center, a problem-solving court established by the Office of Court Administration and the Center for Court Innovation. From February 2015 until August 2023, Justice O’Neill Levy served in Supreme Court, New York County, first as an Acting Justice and then as an elected Justice. During her tenure there, Justice O’Neill Levy presided over a diverse docket of civil matters.

Justice O’Neill Levy is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Community Service Society of New York, an anti-poverty organization; past President of the Brehon Law Society, New York’s Irish-American bar association; and a member of the Advisory Counsel of the New York Women’s Bar Association. Justice O’Neill Levy has served as a guest lecturer at the New York County Lawyers Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and Fordham University School of Law.

Justice O’Neill Levy is a graduate of Boston College and Fordham University School of Law. Before her election to the bench, she served as Principal Law Clerk to Hon. Sherry Klein Heitler, Supreme Court, Civil Branch, New York County and to Rose Rubin, Supreme Court, Criminal Branch, New York County.
