First Department Suspends Attorneys for Failure to Register
Judiciary Law § 468-a requires that attorneys admitted to practice law in the State of New York register biennially and either pay a registration fee or certify that they are retired from the practice of law.
A Notice of Petition seeking the suspension of attorneys who failed to register, together with an order permitting substituted service and a default list, were published in the New York Law Journal for five consecutive days, commencing on January 13, 2025. Defaulting attorneys were required to comply with the registration requirements no later than February 16th. The attorneys who failed to comply have been suspended by order of this Court entered today.
