Under the Rules of Professional Conduct (Part 1200), independent judgment is one of the essential
aspects of a lawyer's relationship with a client. The Institute has undertaken a study of lawyer
independence in a series of Convocations to examine the challenges lawyers
confront in the context of different practices.
