This Help Center lets people without a lawyer create and file petitions all in the same room. If you don’t have a lawyer, you can meet with Volunteer Attorneys, talk with LIFT representatives, receive copies of court orders, and appear before a Court Referee.

This volunteer attorney program is available to prepare divorce papers for people who:

  • Have agreed to divorce; and
  • Whose marriage has been over for at least
    six months and cannot be saved; and
  • Know where their spouse lives: and

Legal Hand volunteers provide free information, help and referrals for housing, family, employment, immigration, domestic violence, consumer and public benefits issues.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12 noon

At Legal Hand, trained community Volunteers, who are not lawyers, provide free information, assistance, and referrals to help people resolve issues that affect their lives in areas like housing, family, employment, immigration, domestic violence, consumer and public benefits issues and try to prevent problems from turning into legal actions. There are no eligibility requirements, and all are welcome.

Legal Hand Call-In Center serving Nassau and Suffolk CountiesWhat's There? ]
Legal Hand volunteers provide free information, help and referrals for housing, family, employment, immigration, domestic violence, consumer, and public benefits issues.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12 noon

At Legal Hand, trained community Volunteers, who are not lawyers, provide free information, assistance, and referrals to help people resolve issues that affect their lives in areas like housing, family, employment, immigration, domestic violence, consumer and public benefits issues and try to prevent problems from turning into legal actions. There are no eligibility requirements, and all are welcome.
