Opinion 97-30

Dear Judge:

         In response to your inquiry (97-30), concerning the propriety of a judge’s association placing an advertisement in a bar association journal in connection with the bar association’s dinner-dance, the Committee declines to issue an opinion.

         Your inquiry was received by us on February 19,1997. The judge’s association meeting at which the purchase of the advertisement was to be decided upon, was to take place on February 14, 1997. Thus, the matter had already been decided by the judge’s association at the time we received the inquiry, and therefore had become moot . Under such a circumstance, the Committee declines to render an advisory opinion.
