Digest:         A full-time judge may act as a peer review consultant to the National Institute of Justice of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Rules:          22 NYCRR 100.2; 100.4

Opinion:

A Supreme Court justice has been asked by the National Institute of Justice, U.S. Department of Justice to serve as a peer review consultant. There would be no compensation for such assignment and the services would not be performed during working hours.

The Committee perceives no ethical bar to the acceptance of such a position under the facts presented.
