Digest:         A judge may place a congratulatory notice in a journal published in conjunction with a fund-raising event of a charitable organization.

Opinion:

         A judge inquires whether it is permissible for members of the judiciary to make charitable contributions by placing congratulatory advertisements of messages in journals published in conjunction with events held by various charitable groups.

         The Committee has previously held that such notices are permissible. (See Joint Opinion 92-70 and 92-84, Volume X.)
