Dear Justice

         The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics, at its meeting of January 30, 1992, considered your inquiry about employment as a private investigator. You may serve as a private investigator, but you should recuse yourself in any matters in which you have acted as an investigator, or in which your employer firm or employer insurance company appears before you.

         Enclosed for your information, are copies of Opinions 90-01 and 91-127, which address this issue.
