         The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics, at its meeting of January 24, 1991, considered your inquiry (91-15), dated January 16, 1991, as to whether you may serve as a member of a school district resident's group, and whether you may participate in the PTA and in board of education meetings.

         There is no ethical prohibition to your joining the school district resident's group, the PTA, or attending board of education meetings. You should, however, avoid taking public positions on controversial issues. Of course, you may discuss any nonjudicial questions with your spouse.
