Opinion 87-6
November 12, 1987
The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics, at its meeting of November 9, 1987, considered your inquiry of October 30, 1987, concerning whether you are disqualified from presiding over actions in which a party is represented by a law firm which employed your niece, a law student, as a summer research assistant, and with which firm your niece is not now associated.
It is the opinion of the Committee, on the basis of the information submitted, that you are not disqualified from presiding over matters involving the law firm for which your niece worked for one summer as a summer research assistant.
The foregoing response is based solely upon the information submitted and the representations set forth in your inquiry. It shall have no effect as a precedent insofar as any other state of facts is concerned.
