Dear :

         This responds to your inquiry (19-158) asking if, after assuming the position of town justice, you may attend public town board meetings as an observer.

         We cannot see any appearance of impropriety in your choosing to attend public town board meetings simply as an observer, as any other interested citizen of the town may do, to learn about issues affecting the town. Accordingly, you may do so.

         As your remaining question is now moot, we decline to address it.
