Dear Justice:

         This responds to your inquiry (13-149) asking whether it is ethically permissible to co-author an op-ed article, which will include your name and title, supporting the passage of certain legislation regarding [ ].

         As the conduct described in your inquiry relates to legislation concerning the law, the legal system, or the administration of justice (22 NYCRR 100.4[B], [C]), it is ethically permissible for you to support the legislation by co-authoring the proposed op-ed article and including your name and title.

         Enclosed, for your convenience, are Opinions 10-147, 09-166, 09-108, 07-109, 07-68, and 06-34, which address this issue.
