Opinion 11-63

Dear Judge:

          This responds to your inquiry (11-63) asking whether you may be honored at your high school’s annual dinner, which you indicate is a fund-raiser.

         Because the event is a fund-raiser, you may not be the speaker or guest of honor. However, you may attend and accept an unadvertised award that is ancillary to the event (see 22 NYCRR 100.4[C][3][b][ii]).

         Enclosed, for your convenience, is Opinion 11-39 which addresses this issue.
