Dear Judge:

         This responds to your inquiry (09-150) asking whether it is ethically permissible for you to accept a position as a member of the Board of Directors of a parochial school/academy. Pursuant to the Rules Governing Judicial Conduct, it is permissible for a judge to serve on the Board of Directors of a parochial school. Enclosed for your convenience are Joint Opinion 97-104/97-105 and Opinion 07-81, which address this issue.

         However, you indicate that the exact role of the Board of Directors has not yet been determined. If and when specific guidelines are actually enacted, please feel free to contact the Committee again in the event you have a particular question regarding your service on the Board.
