Dear Judge :

         This responds to your inquiry (09-02) asking whether it is permissible to make available in your courtroom a list of domestic violence organizations which provide legal services to victims of domestic violence. Making such material available in your courtroom - including court personnel handing the list to litigants - is permissible as long as you explain that the availability of the materials does not constitute an official recommendation by the court and as long as you do not recommend any particular organization.

         Enclosed, for your convenience, is Joint Opinion 95-14/95-21, which addresses this issue.
