Opinion 08-164

Dear Justice :

         This responds to your inquiry (08-164) in which you ask whether you may be honored by a local community center at a non fund-raising dinner, along with other co-founders of the group. You also express concern that you are listed as “Honorable” on the invitation.

         This Committee has concluded, under similar circumstances, that there is no ethical prohibition against attending this type of function; and, because other honorees are identified by their special titles, it is ethically appropriate for your title to be included on the invitation as well.

         Opinions 01-57 and 99-109 address this issue, and we have enclosed them for your convenience.
