Opinion 08-143

Dear Judge :

         This responds to your inquiry (08-143) in which you ask whether you may endorse a former litigant’s petition for clemency. This Committee has concluded, under similar circumstances, that it is ethically impermissible to support such a petition. Please refer to Opinion 02-47, enclosed for your convenience, which addresses this issue. We also note that the case of the former litigant’s sister is still a pending matter with the Family Court because she has not yet reached the age of 21.
