Dear Justice:

         The Committee has received your inquiry dated May 14, 2008, in which you ask whether you may be an honoree of the Government Service Award given by the [not-for-profit] Association if the award is ancillary to the event and not advertised. The Committee has previously ruled that a judge may accept an award under these conditions. Enclosed, for your convenience, are prior Opinions 01-51, 01-30, and 96-52 which address this issue.
