Opinion 07-85

         This responds to your inquiry (07-85) asking whether it is ethically permissible for you to allow the court clerk for the Town of and the Village of

                      Justice Courts to also maintain full-time employment as a secretary in the County District Attorney’s Office.

         In Opinion 97-107, this Committee concluded that a town justice should not allow the town court’s clerk to be employed simultaneously in the Public Defender’s private law office part-time. For the same reasons we gave in Opinion 97-107, the clerk for the Town of and the Village of Justice Courts should likewise not be employed simultaneously in the County District Attorney’s Office full-time.
