          This responds to your inquiry (07-183) about whether you may attend and receive an award at a recognition reception sponsored by the [ ] Program, Inc. The [ ] Program is a community organization that offers “inclusive, innovative approaches to resolve conflict and achieve positive outcomes for children, families and the community.” You state the event is not a fund-raiser, and there is no admission charge.

          This Committee has previously advised that judges may accept awards at events sponsored by civic organizations that do not involve fund raising. Opinions 05-112; 03-82. It is therefore ethically permissible for you to attend and accept an award during a recognition reception sponsored by the [ ] Program.
