         This responds to your inquiry (07-142) asking whether your part-time Town of _________ Court Clerk may simultaneously be employed as a secretary in the _________ County Public Defender’s Office.

         In Opinion 97-107, our Committee determined that a town justice may not permit the court’s part-time clerk to work at the part-time public defender’s private law office. Here, the conflict is even more direct and the proposed dual employment is thus impermissible.
