Opinion 02-67

         This is in response to your inquiry (02-67) in which you ask whether it is permissible for you to serve as a member of the town’s ethics board.

         It appears from the materials provided that the board is advisory only and does not engage in any kind of adversarial proceedings. That is, complaints against town employees are not heard by the board, nor are there any enforcement proceedings that are initiated by it. Under such circumstances, the Committee perceives no ethical impediment to your participation. We enclose Opinion 91-35 (Vol. VII) for your consideration in this regard.
