Justice Christine M. Clark Receives Award

Justice Christine M. Clark was recently presented with the Hon. Judith S. Kaye Distinguished Attorney Member Award by the Capital District Women's Bar Association (CDWBA) at CDWBA's 40th Annual Installation Dinner. The Kaye Award is presented to a CDWBA member who has displayed a longstanding significant involvement in advancing the status of women in the law and in society, and acknowledges the recipient's professional excellence, service to CDWBA and mentorship to new women attorneys. Past winners of the Kaye Award include former Appellate Division Justices Victoria A. Graffeo and Leslie E. Stein, as well as former Third Department Presiding Justice Karen K. Peters.

In addition to her service to CDWBA, Justice Clark serves as a member of the Third Department's Advisory Committee on Attorneys For Children. A graduate of Albany Law School, Justice Clark began her legal career in private practice before becoming an Assistant District Attorney in Schenectady County in 1998. She was appointed as Judge of Schenectady City Court in 2004 and elected to that position the following year. In 2010, she was elected to Schenectady County Family Court and, in 2012, she became only the second woman ever elected to Supreme Court in the Fourth Judicial District. In April 2014, Justice Clark was appointed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo as the 91st Justice of the Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department.
