Barry Donalty Named Criminal Term Supervising Judge
ONEIDA COUNTY - Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman has appointed Hon. Barry M. Donalty as Supervising Judge of the Criminal Term, Fifth Judicial District, and as Acting Justice of the Supreme Court. Effective immediately, the appointment was made with the approval of Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye and in consultation with Presiding Justice Eugene F. Pigott, Jr., of the Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department. Judge Donalty will work under the direction of the new Fifth District Administrative Judge, James C. Tormey, and Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Courts Outside New York City, Joseph J. Traficanti, Jr., both of whom recommended his designation

An Oneida County Court Judge since 1994, Judge Donalty began his legal career as Assistant District Attorney in the Oneida County District Attorney's Office in 1972. He became the District Attorney in that county in 1982, serving for over a decade in that capacity. He has also served as Assistant State Attorney General and Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York. Judge Donalty graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Law and Manhattan College. A life-long resident of Oneida County, he is married with three children.

The Fifth Judicial District comprises Onondaga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
