The Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission Mourns the Loss of the Buffalo Shooting Victims

The Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission wishes to express its deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the ten victims of the racially motivated violence in Buffalo, as well as those injured in the horrific shooting. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the historic Jefferson Street community and the entire City of Buffalo (from which several of our Commission members hail).

Over thirty years ago, the Commission’s namesake, Ambassador Franklin H. Williams, put our charge simply. He said, “We must not stop now. A nation that has come so far, must not now give up the struggle to rid itself of racism.” The Williams Commission is committed to addressing the unequal treatment of people and communities of color within and outside of the court system and bringing awareness of the need for diversity, equity and inclusion. By combating racism and bias in all of its forms with the “fierce urgency of now,” we will ultimately prevail in our quest to achieve equity and justice for all.
