In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission partnered with the Hudson Valley Hispanic Bar Association, the Latino Judges Association, and the Westchester Black Bar Association for their third annual “Esperanza” event.
Featuring a special musical performance by the Chembo Corniel Trio, the festivities commemorated the importance of hope and heritage in shaping the future. Past and future were both celebrated with a special Hispanic Heritage Month award for Efraim Nieves, a former Associate Court Clerk who retired after 45 years of service with the court system.
The diversity of speakers reflected the synergy between New York City and the Hudson Valley, with featured guests including the Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for the Courts Outside of New York City, Hon. Norman St. George; as well as Hon. Llinét M. Rosado, Justice of the Supreme Court, Bronx County and Commissioner of the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission and Sharon Matthie, President of the Westchester Black Bar Association.
