The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Syracuse and Vicinity held their “Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration” on January 15, 2020. Each year Community, Civic, and Religious Leaders come together to commemorate the legacy of Dr. King.

The program included gospel music from guest choir, the Syracuse Fellowship Gospel Choir, as well as words from community and civic leaders. Honorable Vanessa Bogan of Syracuse City Court, a member of the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission, spoke at the event and highlighted employment opportunities in the Court system, including the upcoming court officer examination.

Also in attendance at the event were Sergeant Ebony Ramos (who also spoke at the event), and Court Officers Kelly Cummings and Scott Shaw. The officers set up a table with information regarding the upcoming court officer examination and distributed information to the attendees. Tony Walters and Kim Stephens of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion also assisted with and contributed to the success of the event. The event was a great opportunity to network with the community and share information. The Commission looks forward to additional opportunities for this type of community engagement and recruitment.
