D&I Changemaker:
Hon. Kathie E. Davidson

By John Caher
Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications

Judge Kathie E. Davidson’s father was a physician who, later in life, went to law school because he figured he could handle legal matters as well – or better than – the attorneys taking his hard-earned money. From him, she learned perseverance. Her mother was a human service professional. From her, she learned compassion. Throughout her career as a judge, administrator and now dean of the NYS Judicial Institute, Judge Davidson has mirrored her father’s grit and determination, and her mother’s empathy. And in attending integrated schools as a child and then enrolling in an historically Black law school, Judge Davidson learned that while racism surely exists, “there are people who are not people of color, not Black people, who look at Kathie for Kathie.”
