Office of Diversity and Inclusion:
We're Here for YOU
The New York State Unified Court Systemʼs Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) has a long-standing commitment to equal employment opportunity, the elimination of under-representation of minorities and women, and to ensuring a diverse workforce that reflects the community.
Diversity contributes to the myriad perspectives, approaches, talents and aspirations court employees bring to their work. Considerations of diversity may include nationality, ethnicity, race, gender identity or expression and other aspects of background and identity, such as: age, religion, geography, family status, sexual orientation, or physical and mental ability. Some of our differences are unique to us as individuals, while others connect us to groups of people; the strength of diversity is realized by valuing all of these differences.
It is the objective of the ODI to ensure an atmosphere that is conducive to the highest quality of work, through a workplace where all people feel comfortable, valued and productive.
As a department within OCA, ODI provides a centralized, dedicated resource, with statewide reach and authority, from which the UCS can further its diversity and inclusion policies and initiatives. From this unique position, ODI has worked diligently over many years, to:
- expand the recruitment, hiring and advancement of candidates from under-represented populations
- address discrimination, bias and unwelcome behavior issues in the workforce
- raise awareness of cultural sensitivity and bias issues
- encourage the inclusion of disparate voices and opinions at all levels
- promote the importance of a respectful workplace
- create a large “umbrella”- a diverse and inclusive community where all are welcomed and supported.
