Thank you for your volunteer service and for your commitment to
serving the many self-represented litigants in need of legal assistance.
If you wish to view calendars with available dates for you to volunteer,
schedule times to volunteer, complete an affirmation of completion
of volunteer service, or print out an intake form for you to bring
with you when you volunteer, you may do so from this site.
If you need additional information, feel free to call or send
an email to Marcelle Brandes, Esq., the Director of the Housing
Court’s Volunteer Lawyer’s Project, at (646) 386-5412
or at mbrandes@courts.state.ny.us.

Check Dates Available
to Volunteer
To assist you in selecting dates and times for your volunteer
service, refer to the appropriate calendar below to view dates
on which there are already scheduled volunteers. The calendars
reflect dates and time slots that are no longer available. Select
dates and times during which there are no other volunteers scheduled,
and then scroll down to schedule time to volunteer. NY County’s
Resource Center cannot accommodate volunteers on Fridays at this
time.
CALENDARS
Resource Center locations, hours,
and directions are available on the
Civil Court’s web site.

Schedule Time to
Volunteer
Use the Scheduling
Form to submit your available dates, times, and courthouse
preference.
After your request is received, you will be contacted via email
with confirmation. You must bring a copy of this email confirmation
with you on your dates of service. Every effort is made to accommodate
volunteers’ requests.

Print Intake
Form
You can print out copies of the VLP Intake
Form, which explains to the self-represented litigant the
scope of your involvement. Make sure to discuss the form’s
contents with the self-represented litigant when you meet. After
it is signed, provide the litigant with a copy. Keep a copy of
the completed form for your records, and provide a copy to the
Resource Center Administrator at the front desk. If you do not
bring the intake form with you, please remember to ask the Resource
Center Administrator for a copy of the form, which is available
in triplicate.

Submit Affirmation
of Completion of Volunteer Service
Please keep track of the dates, times, and Housing Court locations
in which you volunteer. Please submit this Affirmation
of Completion of Volunteer Service after you complete your
first 12 hours.
