Residents of Kings County are subject to be summoned for jury duty. They can be called upon to serve on civil and criminal trials or to serve on a grand jury. As a result of recent reforms, exemptions from jury service have been eliminated and all citizens must now take part. This has had the effect of expanding the diversity of the jury pool and reducing the frequency of service.
