Brookyn Treatment Court
Supportive Services: Primary Care Clinic

Program Summary

Since 1998, the Brooklyn Treatment Court Primary Care Clinic (the Clinic) has been a collaboration of The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC), and the Brooklyn Treatment Court (BTC). The Clinic is a part-time extension clinic operating under the license of TBHC and is located on the premises of BTC. Primary care services are provided by a medical doctor to clients who are referred by BTC to the Clinic. BTC’s clients are mandated by Drug Court to receive substance abuse services and are in the treatment program for an average of 12 to 15 months. Clients, and their children, present with significant needs for primary care services and are not generally linked to primary care providers.

Intake Process

Upon the completion of a clinical substance abuse evaluation, a physical examination will be conducted on every new BTC client who is not incarcerated. Ongoing primary care services and referrals will be provided for all active clients and some BTC alumni

Service Delivery Model

The Clinic will provide primary health care services to patients who are referred from BTC. Clinical services will be provided by a medical doctor. Ongoing pediatric, obstetric/gynecologic and specialty services will be referred to providers at TBHC as needed.
