Records Search

Upon request, the Queens County Clerk’s Office staff will provide the service of conducting a search of any of its records for a member of the public. All requests for searches must be put in writing. Please send all search requests to:

The Queens County Clerk’s Office offers “certificates of search” for any of its records. If a member of the public needs a search performed for any reason, the Office will provide the results of that search and/or a certificate of search. The certificate will state that a search was conducted of the specified requested year range and the specific criteria. Most commonly the office offers certificates for the negative results of searches. These certificates are available for any documentation filed with the Queens County Clerk’s Office.

The fee for the certificate itself is $10.

The search fees vary according to the amount of years being searched and what type of document must be searched.

The fees for searching the records are as follows

$10 for the first two years searched (of a specific case type) $5 for additional two years or fraction thereof.

The performance of an additional search of the same information but in a different type of action, will incur an additional fee. (ex. a search of judgement would incur one fee and a search of a lien (for the same debtor) would incur an additional fee, according to the fee schedules.)

With the exception of sealed cases and divorce actions, the general public is at liberty to search any of the records in the County Clerk’s Office. The staff will assist anyone who wants to perform a search for themself but the certificates can only be issued if a staff member performs the search.
