E-filing Your DIY Form in Court

Congratulations on finishing the DIY Form program!

Since you do not have a lawyer, you can e-file your papers over the internet or file them in person at the courthouse.

To e-file your court papers you need:

  • to be able to scan the court papers into a pdf after they are signed and notarized
  • an email address
  • a computer with internet access
  • Visa or Mastercard

There is no extra cost to e-file.

How do I e-file my court papers?
To e-file, make an account at NYSCEF, the court's online e-filing system.

Here are some helpful tips on e-filing your DIY Form.

What if I don't want to e-file my court papers after all?
If you don't want to e-file your court papers, you do not have to. You can take your court papers to the Surrogate's Court and file in person or mail them in.

I have more questions about e-filing and using NYSCEF. Where can I get help?
Call 646-386-3033 Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm or email nyscef@nycourts.gov for help or more information.
