The appeal process is different depending on which court will decide the appeal, where the court is located and what kind of case is appealed. There are strict time limits, forms and rules. Appellate Divisions

The 4 Appellate Divisions handle civil and criminal appeals from the Supreme Court, County Court, Family Court and County Courts. There are Uniform Rules that apply to all 4 Appellate Divisions, but each court also has its own rules.

You can file an appeal to the Appellate Division over the internet using NYSCEF, the New York State Courts Electronic Filing system. Read the Appellate Division E-filing Rules.
