National Pro Bono Celebration Week

Pro Bono Celebration Week, sponsored by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, is a national event that takes place every year in late October with events all over the country. It is an opportunity to spotlight the difference lawyers can make in their communities, to recruit and train more pro bono volunteers and to acknowledge the partnerships that form the basis for many successful pro bono efforts.

For more information on National Pro Bono Celebration Week and the upcoming events, contact Laurie Milder, Special Counsel for Civil Court Volunteer Lawyer Projects at 646-386-4200 or email volunteerattorneys@nycourts.gov.

Bridge the Gap Training Series:

The NYS Courts Access to Justice Program is offering free CLE credits in Consumer Debt, Ethics, Landlord & Tenant Law and Uncontested Divorce. Recent law school graduates and newly admitted attorneys can earn up to 18 CLE credits. In exchange for the CLE credits, participants must complete a 50 hour pro bono practicum assisting litigants in the NYC Housing, Civil, and Supreme Courts within six months of completing the training. Training sessions take place Tuesday, October 21st through Thursday, October 23rd. The Bridge the Gap series encourages graduates and newly admitted attorneys to get involved in pro bono work early in their careers by bridging the gap between law school and the realities of practicing law. To register email Bridgegap@nycourts.gov. View flyer for more information.
